There’s no doubt left anymore after the release of PS5 that it has the best controller out of all Joy Sticks you might have used in the past. It has a nice design and looks futuristic, giving the vibes of being made for superheroes. With a lot more features installed inside this little machinery, the PS5 controller is a piece of art for playing some good graphics games with a realistic feel to it. Whereas, most people are confused about how to connect the PS5 controller to their gaming PC.
And guess what?
It’s not that hard. You just need to follow some basic steps to get that done without facing any hurdles and I am here to help you with that.
How to connect PS5 controller to PC
It’s no rocket science to connect the PS5 controller to a PC with both wired and Bluetooth options. However, the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback aren’t going to work as you may be expected. This means that some of the games you play give you the issue of displaying button prompts and this is something you have to compromise on at this point. Whatsoever, the DualSense 5 is still a good option to connect the PS5 controller to your PC. Let’s proceed with the process.
Connecting DualSense with a wired connection
There’s really nothing too tricky or complex here because all you need is to plug in a cable into two ports and you’re good to go. However, the main thing you need to know is that you must have a USB-C connector because DualSense operates on this port. The cable must have a USB-C port on one side and if there isn’t one, USB A on one end is also going to work.
On the other hand, if you have the PS5 that you bought recently, you must have its box right? You’ll find one there. The last option you have is to get one from any of the online electronic stores.
Connecting DualSense with a Bluetooth connection
This is also a simple process and it’s pretty much similar to connecting any device and console controller to your PC like the Xbox Series X. However, your PC must have a Bluetooth adapter to perform this process.
The first thing you need to do is to open up the Bluetooth control panel on your PC. You can do that by clicking the windows icon found on the right side of the taskbar or simply just pressing the Windows button which is an easy option. Type in Bluetooth and the panel will pop up.
Next up, Add a Bluetooth device and your PC will start detecting the nearest devices in its range with their Bluetooth on.
Now you have to pick up your DualSense and hold the PS logo button and the LEDs will start to blink. Whereas, on your PC, you’ll find a Wireless Controller pop-up. Simply select it and the pairing will start and there you have it, your PS5 controller is connected to your PC via Bluetooth.
Setting up your DualSense on Steam
We are lucky that we have a platform like Steam that supports the Playstation controllers. Now the next step that you need to follow after connecting your PS5 controller to your PC, all you need to do is to launch Steam and select the Big Picture mode.
Under the settings tab, you will find the Controller Settings and there you have the Wireless controller listed. Next up Select the layout that will allow you to select actions for each button on your controller.
In the end, save the settings and from now on you can use the ps5 controller on Steam just like you use it on the PS5. There are some things that you can’t perform yet at this point with the PS5 controller because there’s no driver available yet. However, you can use it to some extent for some of your favorite titles.
